Our promise

What we ask for, when, and why.

Last updated: 13 June 2026

This page is the short, human version of how we handle your personal details. We've kept it on one screen on purpose. The full legal policy is at our Privacy Policy, but if you only ever read one page, read this one.

What we ask for on the website

When you book a call with us, we ask for exactly four things:

  • Your name, so we know who's turning up to the call.
  • Your email, so the Google Meet invite has somewhere to land.
  • A mobile number, purely so Tom can text "running two minutes late" if he is, or call you if Meet drops. We don't use it for marketing and we won't sell it.
  • Your postcode, so we can pull up your roof on Google Earth before the call. That way the 30 minutes you've given us is spent designing, not orienting.

That's it. We deliberately don't ask for your house number, your street, or your full address on the website. There's no good reason a stranger should have to type those into a web form to talk to us.

What we deliberately don't ask for online

  • House number and street
  • Your MPAN or electricity meter details
  • Half-hourly consumption data or copies of your energy bills
  • Bank or payment details
  • Anything about the inside of your home

We collect these in person, on paper, when we visit you for the site survey, see below.

What happens when you scan a QR code from our flyer

Our printed flyers carry a QR code that opens a page on this website. When you scan it, two things happen:

  1. The browser opens the page, same as if you'd typed the address yourself. We don't get your name, your number, your face, or anything else about you from the scan.
  2. Like every other page on the site, the visit is counted using an anonymous random visitor ID stored only on your device. That tells us how many people the flyer reached; it does not tell us who you are.

You'll see our cookie banner the first time you arrive. If you say No thanks, forget me, we delete the visit log immediately, including the fact that you scanned the flyer. Scanning a QR is not the same as giving us consent to track you; the banner is.

What happens in person, on the site visit

When Tom comes to your site, he'll bring a one-page form. On it, he writes down the things we genuinely need to design and install the system: your full address, electricity supply details (MPAN), roof dimensions and pitch, shading walk-around notes, and (only if you're ready to proceed) the bank details for the invoice.

You can see what's written on the form. You keep a copy. None of it gets typed into a web form by you, late at night, hoping you spelled your MPAN right.

Your rights, and how to ask us to forget you

You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email privacy@shiresenergy.com and we'll come back to you within a working week.

For the full legal version of all this, lawful bases, retention periods, transfers, who we share with, see our Privacy Policy.

Where you'll see a small ✱ next to a form field on our site: that's a link back to this page, so you can check what we'll do with what you're about to type before you type it.
